We are going to a BBQ to celebrate the 4th of July! Obviously, I would like to contribute and bring something yummy. I almost always bring a dessert when we go somewhere. We definitely love dessert over here at Food, Family, and Chaos! This time I wanted to bring something on the healthy side since the fruit at the market has been so delicious.
This fruit salad has 4 different kinds of fruit and a deliciously sweet, minty dressing! The dressing is just enough to bring out the natural deliciousness of the fruit.
The Cast of Characters:

Cut up the watermelon into bite size chunks. Slice the strawberries.

Place the strawberries in a bowl and sprinkle them with the sugar. Set aside.

The sugar helps bring out the strawberries natural sweetness. This is a good recipe to use up strawberries that are a little past their prime. If they are a little bruised it’s ok.
Cut up the apple into small pieces. We love Fuji apples in our house so that’s what I used but you can use any apple you like.

Add the watermelon, blueberries, and apples to the bowl of strawberries.

In a small bowl, mix mint, honey, and lime juice.

Pour the dressing over the fruit and stir it up.

So pretty and delicious! This needs to be made the day you serve it, it really can’t be made a day in advance. Also, make sure to give it a stir again right before serving. Happy 4th of July!!
