We were invited to stay 2 nights at the beautiful MGM Springfield in Springfield, Massachusetts. I know that you might be thinking that a hotel with a casino is not family-friendly, but you are wrong. The MGM Springfield is a great home base from which you can venture off to do many family-friendly activities. There is so much to see and do in Springfield. Read all about how you can Explore Western Massachusetts with the MGM Springfield.
The Decor at The MGM Springfield
The MGM Springfield is a 252 room hotel and casino located in Springfield, Massachusetts. When I stepped into The MGM Springfield, my very first thought was how much I loved the ultra-modern and quirky decor.
Check-in was quick and painless. We sat for a few minutes and just took in the beauty of the lobby area with their plush couches and chairs.
After that, we wandered around the hotel a bit to get the lay of the land. The MGM Springfield has a casino, an outdoor pool area, and a spa. The only amenity that we used was the pool area which was great. I am totally in love with the comfy couches that they have around the pool! I had to be careful not to actually fall asleep.
The Rooms at The MGM Springfield
The MGM Springfield is located in the historic Union building in Springfield. Even though it is in a historic building, it feels so modern. We had a standard room with 2 queen beds. The beds were soft and comfy with luxurious bedding.
Oh lord, the bathroom! I could have stayed in the rain shower ALL DAY LONG… I think Gianna wanted to move in.
The bathroom was huge. They also had the most amazing smelling bath products in there. Another reason to never leave the shower!
The Food at The MGM Springfield and the Surrounding Areas
They do not include breakfast with your stay which is not ideal for families. But there is the South End Market and room service in the hotel to grab a bite.
On the 1st floor of the hotel, there are also amazing restaurants like the Chandler Steakhouse and Tap Sports Bar. We opted for dinner at TAP where we could eat right at our bowling lane which the kids thought was the best thing since sliced bread!
**Tip: order the giant pretzel with beer pub cheese. It’s drool-worthy!**
We also ventured out to other local restaurants during our stay at the MGM Springfield. If pizza is your thing, then the Red Rose Pizzeria right across the street from the hotel is where it’s at. The restaurant is very family-friendly and the food is delicious, but be forewarned that the portions are enormous so don’t overorder.
We also dined at an awesome Italian restaurant named Adolfo’s which is about a 5-minute drive from the hotel. Being that we are Italian, we are very picky when it comes to Italian food. Boy, Adolfo’s did not disappoint! The staff is so nice and attentive. I can not even give you a recommendation for what to order, because everything was delicious.
If you get a chance to visit Adolfo’s without the kiddos, they also have a great outdoor bar area where you can have dinner and drinks while you listen to music.
Activities in the Western Massachusetts Area
There are lots of things for families to do in the Springfield area. My top 2 recommendations are Six Flags New England and The Dr. Suess Museum.
Six Flags is definitely an all-day activity. There are so many rides and attractions for the whole family.
The Dr. Suess Museum was also lots of fun. This is a great choice for families with younger kids. But we still enjoyed it.
