The Italian heritage in me is coming out in full force here for this recipe! I love Caprese salad and I make it quite often at home. I tend to forget that many people may think this is not something that they can easily make themselves and only order it in restaurants. It is actually crazy easy to make! Tomatoes are in peak season right now and are so delicious. Try this Caprese salad for dinner tonight!

The Cast of Characters

The first thing you need to do is prep the ingredients. Slice 3-4 tomatoes depending on the size of your plate and how many people you are feeding. Throw away the ends of the tomato.

*Tip: Use a serrated bread knife to slice the tomatoes and mozzarella. It slices right through everything without squishing the ingredients.*

Next, slice your mozzarella. Keep the cheese in the fridge until ready to use, it makes it easier to slice.

This sight makes my heart flutter. Everything looks so fresh and delicious!

Now that you have prepped all of your ingredients it’s time to craft your masterpiece. Am I getting carried away here? I can’t help it, I love food.  HaHa.

Start layering your tomato and mozzarella in the dish going in a clockwise direction, overlapping each ingredient half way. So tomato, mozzarella, tomato, mozzarella, etc. You get it, it’s not rocket science here!

Stick some basil leaves in for color. Some people eat the basil when they eat their Caprese Salad, but I am not a huge fan of basil, so this is purely for decoration for me.

Season with salt and fresh ground pepper. Don’t be shy with the salt here, the tomatoes really need it.

Drizzle with a good olive oil and Pastene Balsamic Cream Vinegar.

You will notice that I do not give any measurements for this recipe. It really just depends on how many people you are feeding for how many of each ingredient you will need. You will need to use your own judgment here, but honestly, there is really no way you can mess this up.  It’s that easy.

There you have it, Captivating Caprese Salad! It is so fresh and delicious. This is the perfect start to an end of summer meal. Happy Eating!!
