We recently visited the River Road Tavern in Bedford, NH. I have to tell you if you are ever in the area you need to check it out! The food and service were both excellent.

As most of you know, we are very avid campers. We attended a camping show in Bedford and asked the locals where a good place for lunch would be. The unanimous response was the River Road Tavern.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was jam-packed. It is a fairly small and cozy restaurant. We waited about 20 minutes for a table which ultimately was not too bad. Of course, it felt like hours to my kids who I think are the most impatient children on the planet. You can see how painful this was for Gianna. LOL

There is a small couch and chair that you can sit on while waiting. Eric had some paper with him so he made up trivia questions and quizzed us. The problem is that I don’t think he even knew the correct answers to his own questions. So you can imagine how well that went!

The décor in the River Road Tavern is somewhat of a mix of a barn feel and an upscale roadside bar. Very cute and kitschy. They have hightop tables with metal chairs. Lots of wood accents and signs of all kinds all over the walls. The kids had lots of fun reading the signs and it definitely helps pass the time if you have to wait.

Our server Jeff was very enthusiastic and attentive despite how busy they were. He was also very patient with the kids who are indecisive and take forever to give their order.

They have lots of beer and hard cider choices on the menu at very reasonable prices. Yum!

My husband and son both ordered the Tavern Steak Tips. They are both definitely carnivores. The steak tips were cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. Piled high with thin cut crispy fries on the side. I would highly recommend the steak tips, they were quite delicious.

Gianna and I both ordered a Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It was awesome. So crispy and full of flavor. And the bread… Oh my goodness, the brioche bun is amazing.

I absolutely love the tin pans that they use to serve the food instead of regular old plates. So inventive! The menu is not very big so if you are a very picky eater make sure you check it out online 1st. Also, they do not have kids meal options so keep that in mind if you are on a budget.

If you live anywhere near Bedford, NH you definitely need to stop by the River Road Tavern. It is a hidden gem in New Hampshire. Happy Eating!!
