It’s that dreaded time of day again. It’s the What’s For Dinner time of day.
I think my least favorite part of adulting is trying to decide what to make for dinner every single night, over and over, until I die! Oh wait, I forgot that going to the actual grocery store to get said items to cook for dinner is my least favorite part. I guess I don’t particularly like any of the parts.
Does any of this sound familiar?
ARE YOU IN A RECIPE RUT?
DO YOU WANT TO PROVIDE MEALS FOR YOUR FAMILY …BUT NOT SURE WHAT TO CHOOSE ANYMORE?
TIRED OF THE FOOD RUT: PASTA, CHICKEN FINGERS, PIZZA, REPEAT?
Well, then I have your solution. Meal Planning! I am telling you that once you start Meal Planning, you will never look back.
Meal Planning will literally transform the way you plan and prepare meals in your house and save you so much time and money.
The first step of Meal Planning is to build a master list of recipes. You will use some of your favorite recipes when you are planning out your meals for the week.
Everyone has some favorite meals. These are the meals that you would have any day without feeling like you are having a boring meal. Look at the food that you have been eating. Are there any meals that you like more than the others?
Initially, when you are just starting out, you might find that you don’t have enough meals to create your master list. Thus, you will need to keep adding new meals to your list as you continue to discover new recipes.
Once you have built your master list, create their recipes, and store them somewhere you can access them easily. You can be using these favorite meals for 5 of the dinners in a week while you use the remaining 2 dinners to discover new meals.
The next step is to start stocking up on things you use often. This included pantry items like spices, baking staples, and freezer items.
As you may have already noticed before, sometimes, you have a busy day such that you find yourself lacking time to cook. But, it doesn’t matter that you don’t have the time to cook. You and your family still have to eat. This is where your pantry staples and freezer come into play.
Having some simple ingredients and freezer meals on hand is way better than opting for fast food or some takeout. Takeout is expensive while fast foods won’t do your body any good health-wise.
So, the next time you are making something you know freezes well, for example, lasagna, be sure to make a few extra batches. Keep those extra batches in your freezer in readiness for that tough day.
